KS Apartment: A Masterpiece of Industrial Chic Design

MORPH X DESIGN STUDIO's Award-Winning Residential Transformation

The project was conceived with the aim of creating a comfortable living environment that is also interesting and inviting for friends and visitors. The design team drew inspiration from nature, manifesting these influences in the choice of materials, textures, colors, and lighting. The result is an industrial chic look that perfectly represents the contemporary vision of combined comfort and elegance.

The KS Apartment is a renovation of an existing 320 m2 apartment on the ground floor, with an added 320 m2 on the first floor. The expansion includes two large master bedrooms, a sculptural staircase, and a large open plan living space divided into multiple zones; a seating area, TV area, large dining area, smoking area, and an open kitchen connected with a long luxurious marble bar.

The project is characterized by its consistency in the use of materials. This consistency provides a grand and clean look. The woodwork, found in cladding, furniture, and cabinets, adds warmth to the space. Big-slab tile was used to create one large carpet look, and it was also used in wall cladding but in lighter shades. Black steel was incorporated in many details on many scales, from the staircase structure to door handles.

The design team faced the challenge of connecting two previously separate apartments and transforming them into one duplex apartment, without compromising the comfort of the owners. The expansion required the demolishing of all walls to create a large open space canvas for design, leaving structural elements standing in the space. The design team creatively concealed these structural elements by including them in the space elements, ensuring they did not interrupt the quality of the open space.

The KS Apartment provides the client with an art exhibition experience, through the open space design, which at the same time is divided through different zones of activities that are enhanced by the open space itself. This project is a testament to the transformative power of design and the creativity of MORPH X DESIGN STUDIO, which was recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019.
